SEPTA Metro G Line

The SEPTA Metro G line was named as such as it operates via Girard Avenue. Unlike all other SEPTA Metro Lines, the SEPTA Metro G Line is served by a mix of buses and trolleys. The current G line is former trolley route 15.

Service Levels


There is only one service level on the SEPTA Metro G line, the G1. Although there is one service level, eastbound service on the G1 splits at Frankford Avenue and Girard Avenue, headed to either Frankford-Columbus (Northern Liberties Loop) or Richmond-Westmoreland (Madison Loop). Service operating to Richmond-Westmoreland as a trolley does not also serve Northern Liberties loop

The rundown of G1 service levels are as follows:

  • G1 63rd-Girard to Richmond Westmoreland
    • This variant operates from 5am to 6pm on weekdays
    • This variant operates from 5am to 9pm on weekends
    • This is the only variant that is likely to recieve trolleys
  • G1 63rd-Girard to Frankford-Columbus
    • This variant operates from 5am to 6pm on weekdays
    • This variant operates from 5am to 9pm on weekends
    • This variant is only operated with buses
  • G1 63rd-Girard to Richmond-Westmoreland via Frankford-Columbus
    • This variant operates from 6pm to 5am weekdays
    • This variant operates from 9pm to 5am weekends
    • This variant is only operated with buses

SEPTA Metro route G1 operates full service from Richmond-Westmoreland to 63rd-Girard, serving the Frankford-Columbus branch in both directions. Service on SEPTA Metro route G1 operates exclusively as bus from 6pm to 5am weekdays and 9pm to 5am on weekends.
