Boulevard Direct History

SEPTA’s Boulevard Direct was launched October 22nd 2017 as a speedier alternative to route 14 between Frankford Transit Center and Neshaminy Mall with limited stops along Roosevelt Boulevard. Unlike other SEPTA bus routes, the Boulevard Direct would only stop at Boulevard Direct branded transit stops, with logos and shelters along the way. With this new special service, SEPTA wrapped 10 NovaBus LFS Articulated buses for the Boulevard Direct matching the style and colors of the transit stops. In Fall 2019, SEPTA would wrap 10 forty foot NovaBus LFS Hybrids for the service instead, and the stop at Southampton Road was added.

With the New Bus Network, SEPTA will extend the Boulevard Direct via Roosevelt Boulevard and Hunting Park Avenue to Wissahickon Transit Center. This extension will also replace route 1 service.

Other Routes using the same numbers

Historically, there was no other bus routes named “Boulevard Direct” but route 1 was originally called the Boulevard Limited.

New Bus Network Changes

The Boulevard Direct is being extended to Wissahickon Transit Center in February 2027, and will replace bus service on route 1.
