Ok.....so all I know how to modify is AI lists and passengers on maps.

So my question is: is Audacity a good choice for sounds?

Audiacity is perfect for sound editing in video games in general, so yeah it's good for OMSI. You can actually modify sounds to the 1/1000th of a second meaning if you want to say get an engine sound to loop properly, you can literally have a clip that is 1.111 seconds long

I must warn though, OMSI doesn't register sound clips that are less than .1 seconds in length, so if you want to add in something like a click, or something else that doesn't loop, you may want to add in a few thousandths of a second worth of silence.

So I can make a whole engine (idle sounds and more) like that?

I feel like this sentence answers your question.
