The roots of this present map were first planted in late 2018 when I pulled my old and infamously destructive Detroit map from the internet and began contemplating remaking the map from scratch. In 2019, work on this map began, and after many weeks and months of hard work, the all-new, improved and more realistic Detroit-Windsor map is now available. The main intent of this map is to make it as large as OMSI will handle it, as an experiment.

You will already notice that everything is much more polished compared to my old Detroit map. Roads are much more realistic and detailed, and more realistic buildings are featured too.

The following routes are currently featured in the latest release:

• DDOT 19 (Outer Drive-Rosa Parks Transit Center)
• SMART 125 (Detroit Metro Airport [McNamara/Evans Terminals]-River Rouge)
• SMART 830 (Trenton-Downtown Detroit)
• Transit Windsor Tunnel Bus (Windsor-Detroit)

Important Note: When spawning a new bus, each agency uses different HOF files. Use the following HOF files:

• route starts with "DDOT" followed by route number: use the HOF file "Detroit - Apr 23.hof"
• route starts with "SMART" followed by route number: use the HOF file "Detroit SMART - June 23.hof"
• route starts with "Windsor" followed by route number: use the HOF file "Windsor - Jul 23.hof"

• Moved the setting of this map back in sync with the present day, which means...
• HOF files updated
• SMART 160 has been rerouted and extended into areas currently not on this map, so as of this update, it has been made temporarily undriveable
• All driveable routes have updated timetables to reflect current times
• SMART 125 no longer serves downtown Detroit and now serves both Metro Airport terminals in one trip
• New area of Metro Airport - DO & CO building with dedicated stops on SMART 125
• Scenery reworked across the entire map
• Debut of realtime arrival displays at select SMART stops
• Southwest Detroit has received a road network rework - glimpse at the construction of the Gordie Howe International Bridge!
• New repaints for several buses

Changes since 08/16/2023 release:

• Fixed issue that prevented the SMART hof from appearing on none-DBC buses
