MTA Maryland DE40LFRs have Retired

Baltimore, Maryland It’s official, the restyled era is over as the final 2010 DE40LFRs have officially retired from MTA Maryland revenue service. The LFR fleet was Baltimore’s first ever batch of hybrid buses, and the only fleet of buses where each year brought a different look.

When the first batch of DE40LFRs were ordered, MTA Maryland had goals of achieving a 100% hybrid fleet by 2020.

While MTA would continue to exclusively order hybrid buses from 2006 into 2014, they would then proceed to order clean diesel buses from 2016 into 2024.

There are, however, more hybrid buses on the horizon…
