This means all stations east of 40th Street on the SEPTA Metro SEPTA Metro - T Lines T1 SEPTA Metro - T Lines T2 SEPTA Metro - T Lines T3 SEPTA Metro - T Lines T4 and SEPTA Metro - T Lines T5 lines will not be served. In this event, all SEPTA Metro - T Lines lines will be diverted to serve 40th St on the SEPTA Metro - L Trains Lines to allow for passengers to continue via free transfer to the SEPTA Metro SEPTA Metro L1 for Center City stops. The closure of the trolley tunnel for maintenance during the summer is referred to as the Trolley Tunnel blitz.

The reason why this year’s Tunnel Blitz is longer than previous years Trolley Tunnel Blitzes, is because this year PennDOT will also be working on the tunnel under the Schuylkill River.

The Following SEPTA Metro - T Lines stations will not be served by any SEPTA Metro Service:

  • 40th St Portal
  • 37th-Spruce
  • 36th-Sansom
  • 36th St. Portal
  • 33rd St
  • 22nd St
  • 19th St

However, service on the following SEPTA Metro - T Lines stations will continue to be served by SEPTA Metro - L Trains trains (despite not being served by SEPTA Metro SEPTA Metro - T Lines lines):

  • Drexel Station at 30th
  • 15th Street
  • 13th Street

Passengers getting off at any of the unserved stations are urged to transfer to nearby bus service. The graphic below provided by SEPTA is meant to assist with navigating the system.

Due to the amount of events that are due to take place next year, there will be no Trolley Tunnel Blitz in 2026.

That means this year, being the thirteenth year of the annual Trolley Tunnel Blitz, will end the streak of the blitz taking place every year.
